What is Join In Playgroup?
Join In Playgroup is an opportunity for parents and caregivers with children aged between 2 and 6 years to join in and play with their child in a safe and welcoming environment.
Under the guidance of Autism SA early intervention therapists, the 8 week program is designed to help parents and caregivers develop the skills that will support their child as they build capacity in a range of different areas.
Join In Playgroup gives parents and caregivers opportunities to develop skills that will support their child.
Autism SA therapists help parents and caregivers to build a range of skills that can be used to support your child to reach their potential. This includes supporting children to:
- Direct their own play
- Follow instructions
- Play with others, and
- Complete daily tasks.
Parents and caregivers will be supported by our lead therapist in the use of visual supports and positive behaviour support strategies. Additionally, you will be supported to understand more about your child’s sensory processing needs throughout the course of the program.
Take-home resources are provided weekly, and caregivers will be supported to plan activities for the home to practice new strategies with their child.
Parents and caregivers will be supported by our lead therapist in the use of visual supports and positive behaviour support strategies.
