Do you find yourself looking for ways to develop the independence of a person on the spectrum that you support? Can they lose track of what they are doing or miss steps in a task? Visual schedules are an easy and effective way to increase independence, confidence and self-esteem, by providing information in a concrete visual way. A greater awareness of what is going to happen, in what order it will happen, and for how long it will happen, not only supports executive functioning but also reduces anxiety and repetitive questioning such as asking what the time is and what is going to occur next.
During this workshop the presenter will guide participants through how to identify the right visual schedule for the individual that you support and will share the fundamentals on how to set up and use a visual schedule that is effective in promoting independence.
