Autism SA is thrilled to have partnered with Drakes Supermarkets to deliver ‘Quiet Time’ on Tuesday evenings from 6-9pm.
Currently, most inclusive shopping hours occur in the middle of the day. Drakes are instead beginning the inclusive hours from 6pm, extending the normal hours of trade by an extra hour.
Staff at both stores have participated in Autism SA’s inclusion training and each store will become a more sensory inclusive environment during the ‘quiet time’ hours with dim light, less sounds and increased signage in stores.
Autism SA has supported the fantastic initiative through the creation of resources such as Visual and Sensory Maps, Social Narratives and Communication Boards. Our team has also provided consultation and autism inclusion training to staff, to further support acceptance and understanding.
