My Pathways: Pre and Post NDIS planning Support
The NDIS was introduced to fund reasonable and necessary supports to help participants to reach their goals and aspirations. It is designed to support individuals with disability to:
- Pursue their goals, objectives and aspirations
- Increase their independence
- Increase social and economic participation, and
- Develop their capacity to actively take part in the community.
The NDIS may be accessible for individuals aged 7 and older. Funding for children aged under 7 may be accessed via the Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) pathway.
Pathways Consultants assist and guide individuals with autism and their families through the process of applying to become NDIS participants.
The My Pathways Team provides support and guidance services for individuals with autism and their families to apply for and use NDIS funding to access appropriate programs, therapies and interventions (we also work with people without autism).
As part of this service, Pathways Consultants assist and guide individuals with autism and their families through the process of applying to become NDIS participants.
Once an NDIS Plan has been accepted and approved, Autism SA Pathways Consultants then provide advice and guidance on selecting appropriate therapies, interventions, programs and other services to ensure that both adults and children on the spectrum are receiving the appropriate levels of support to meet their specific needs.
NDIS pre-planning support
The My Pathways Team acts as advisers to individuals with autism and their families, and we can assist you in the preparation of your application to become an NDIS participant.
Preparing for a NDIS planning meeting
An NDIS planning meeting is a central part of the process and requires detailed preparation to ensure that you are able to define your goals and articulate your reasonable and necessary needs.
Our Pathways Consultants will assist you in your preparations for this meeting by helping you to set out your goals and aspirations, and outlining the supports and services that will be available to you through Autism SA (or other providers).
NDIS post-planning support
Once an NDIS Plan has been approved, My Pathways can assist in determining the best means of utilising the funding, and helping participants to access the appropriate programs, therapies and interventions.
We can advise on the programs and supports that are available at Autism SA (or other providers) according to the type of funding received, and will attempt to offer multiple options or help to find solutions when it comes to programs with waiting lists.
Ahead of an annual review, we may also check as to whether the supports that have been put in place are continuing to meet a participant’s needs.
